To keep your
Kawasaki motorcycle functioning at the best performance, there are
certain things that you should do. If you follow some of the suggested
steps in this article, you may never have to worry about purchasing
Kawasaki
motorcycle parts.
To keep your bike in optimal condition, you
can have your bike taken into a repair shop about every six months for
a check-up. If you are one of those people that like to do the work
yourself, here are some steps you can follow to make sure your bike
stays in prime condition.
The first thing you should check is your
brakes. This may sound like a difficult place to begin, but normally
with the right tools (that you probably already have) you can change
your brake pads within 45 minutes.
Changing your brake pads can eliminate soft
brakes and unwanted noises. If you need to purchase Kawasaki motorcycle
parts, you will need to use EBC/HH pads. I recommend going to any
dealer to find the correct model numbers. Or you can even find OEM pads
that Kawasaki uses.
The next thing you should get in the habit
of doing at least every six months is checking your brake fluid.
Kawasaki bikes have level windows so you can easily see if your fluid
level is at maximum or minimum.
Obviously, if the levels are low, you will
want to add more fluid. Sometimes brake fluids can also be too high. In
this case, you will want to siphon out some of it.
The next step also deals with your brakes.
In this step, you should bleed your brakes. Most bike owners have their
own way of doing this. However, Kawasaki manufacturers recommend one
way of doing it.
o Fill up pump oil can with new brake fluid.
o Attach it to the brake bleeder valve via a
hose.
o Pump the oil can slowly. This gets the
fluid moving through the bike to push out old fluid.
o Do your best to not get any of the fluid
on the bike’s exterior. Brake fluid can strip your paint.
o You will then want to slowly pump the
brakes to get all the air out. (This may take a few minutes.)
Now that you have the brakes worked on, you
can move to the oil filter. It is important to clean out debris that
gets inside. If there is any damage, you should replace it. You can
find great deals at stores that have aftermarket Kawasaki motorcycle
parts.
Last but not least, check the U-joint. If
there is lack of lubrication, you can easily add a little bit of fluid
to see if there is any improvement. If not, you can find this part for
about $65.
